San Diego Latisse • Latisse in San Diego

The San Diego Eye and LASIK Institute is proud to offer LATISSE!

Are you interested in growing more eyelashes? Do you seek more "natural" lashes than what is achieved with artificial lashes or mascara? If so, the San Diego Eye Institute would help you explore the possibilities with Latisse!

What is Latisse?

Latisse is a medication that is FDA approved to treat hypotrichosis or a decreased amount of lashes. It has been clinically proven to increase the density, thickness, and length of your lashes. Dr. Tony Pham has used the active ingredient in Latisse for over 10 years to treat glaucoma. Over this time, our eye surgeon and other San Diego ophthalmologists have noticed that the active ingredient (bimatoprost) greatly increased the density of eye lashes in our glaucoma patients. Only recently has this medication been approved to grow eyelashes. Unlike mascara and artificial lashes, Latisse helps you grow your own natural eyelashes!

How does Latisse work?

The active ingredient of Latisse is part of a group of medications called Prostaglandins. These medications have long been known to increase eye lash growth. Latisse is believed to work by increasing both the growth phase of new lashes and also increasing the number of hairs being grown.

How long does it take to see results?

At the San Diego Eye and LASIK Institute, you may see your eyelashes increase in number and thickness in as little as four weeks. However, it is recommended that you use Latisse for atleast two months to allow the medication to fully work.

The medication is applied to the base of the lashes once a day. There is an application technique that the San Diego Eye and LASIK Institute will teach you how to use.

What are the side effects of Latisse?

Latisse may cause mild pigmentary changes to the skin around your eyes and your eye color. For most patients, these changes are not noticeable. You may notice a mild burning sensation on application of the medication.

Can I get a prescription from any San Diego Doctor?

It is recommended that you have an eye doctor with experience with the medication. In addition, the advantage of seeing a San Diego Eye Physician and Surgeon is that your ophthalmologist can also monitor your eyes health.
